Patient Command Center opens to manage beds across Advocate Health Care.

OAKBROOK TERRACE, IL—The new 7,000 SF Patient Command Center went live March 2019. The centralized hub allows Advocate to manage real time information for 3,500 patient beds across five northern Illinois hospitals, improve the patient continuum of care and better manage patient safety. With more hospitals coming on in the next few months, the command center implements state-of-the-art technology in a 24/7 operation tracking patients from the emergency room to a hospital bed or transferring between hospitals.

Staff workstations each having four monitors are centrally located to view the large monitor wall which houses 14 screens showing various dashboards along with cable TV. Surrounding the open work area are offices, a conference room, mother’s room, wellness room and locker room. A common area adjacent the kitchen houses tables and booths to provide a space for employee breaks. M&CA provided all planning, architecture and interior design.
