South Lobby Renovations completed at Edward Hospital including a new Starbucks Cafe.

Bronson South Haven Hospital- ED

NAPERVILLE, IL– Designed in partnership with Starbucks, Edward Hospital seeks to add a new service line to better serve patients, visitors and staff at the South Entrance and provide an area of respite amongst all the activity. Conceived as part of a multi-phased project including relocating the Information Desk, upgrading the intake corridor from the South Parking Garage and new finishes throughout, the space now functions as a vital activity hub offering multiple choices for everyone. The area is anchored by a Starbucks retail space located in the sky-lit area of the existing South Lobby.

Starbucks is positioned for ease of access, customer ordering and convenient mobile pick-up. It is grounded with a generous seating area which offers multiple options including booths, mobile work areas with charging stations and comfortable lounge seating. The space encourages users to interact,  provides gathering for impromptu meetings or just casual relaxation and coffee. It also functions as a remote waiting room for Same Day Surgery visitors complete with a tracking board to identify patient status.

Starbucks branded materials including wood tones, terrazzo flooring, and painted finishes bring warmth to the spaces and were coordinated with hospital finishes. Patients, visitors and staff now have a space appropriately scaled to the facility, promoting visual continuity and consistent with way finding. The new Information Desk is better situated to traffic patterns and provides staff with direct visibility to both the main and parking structure entrances. M&CA provided all planning, architecture and interior design services.
