M&CA completes construction on Advocate Aurora Health Technology Education Center.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL—The 15,000 SF training center opened in February 2019 to support the implementation of a new electronic health record (EHR) software throughout Advocate. The project occurred in two phases with the first phase operational in November 2018 as a temporary call center to support implementation. The final phase includes training rooms and support areas. Since merging with Aurora Health Care of Milwaukee last year, Advocate is implementing the same electronic health record (EHR) software as Aurora Health. Adjacent to the Downers Grove Headquarters, the new training center will be utilized to train more than 17,000 physicians, nurses and associates on the new electronic health record software. The reception area features two digital displays with class schedules directing students to one of the sixteen training rooms. To assist with wayfinding, each corridor has its own accent color which is highlighted at the training room door. Training rooms are equipped with two monitors per trainee and one large electronic display for instruction. A variety of support spaces are available from booths with WiFi, private phone rooms and a mother’s room. Options for lunch include the kitchen and vending areas along with the building’s cafe. M&CA provided all planning, architecture and interior design.
